2019
Before the Intellectual Property High Court (IPHC), the firm successfully represented our client in an appeal to cancel the opposition decision made by the JPO Appeal Board. A competitor of our client instituted the opposition to cancel our client’s patent; the patent of our client in question related to a semiconductor device. The firm against the opposition defended our client but the Board had determined to cancel the patent; this determination was finally cancelled. This case was handled by Patent Attorneys Shizuo Toyooka, and Fumio Hirose.
2016
The firm represented our client in a successful appeal to cancel a decision made by the JPO Appeal Board before the IPHC; the patent of our client in question related to a luminescent device. In the invalidation trial that a competitor of our client instituted to invalidate our client’s patent, the firm defended our client, but the patent had been invalidated by the Board’s decision. This decision was finally cancelled. This case was handled by Patent Attorneys Shizuo Toyooka, Fumio Hirose, and Takayoshi Matsumoto.
2016
The firm successfully defended our client’s patent on an invention relating to decorative items including Brunnian link against a request for invalidating the patent filed by an infringer with the JPO. In response, the infringer appealed to the IPHC, but the appeal was dismissed. This case was handled by Patent Attorneys Shizuo Toyooka, Masakazu Ito, and Yuko Hara.
2014
The firm represented our client before the IPHC in a successful appeal to cancel a decision made by the JPO Appeal Board. The firm filed a request with the JPO for invalidating a patent on an invention relating to a back-sheet for solar cells of our client’s competitor, but the JPO Appeal Board rejected the request; this rejection was finally cancelled. This case was handled by Patent Attorneys Shizuo Toyooka and Yuko Hara.
2014
Before the IPHC, the firm successfully represented our client who filed a Patent Application on an invention concerning the method of disposing of paper diaper. The IPHC cancelled the JPO Appeal Board’s decision that rejected the Patent Application and remanded the Board to reexamine the case. Finally, the Board granted a patent to our client. This case was handled by Patent Attorneys Shizuo Toyooka and Fumio Hirose.
